Metropolis 1.36

Hi all – about two weeks ago I purchased a new metropolis. It was loaded with 1.34. All good until two nights ago. I switched clock to external, reset_r, works good --> save --> turn power off --> turn power on --> metropolis displays “hello” and nothing else, can’t access any configuration menus, regardless of whether clocks/resets are being fed in or not. I was effectively locked out.

Last night updated to 1.35, and I’m stoked to see everything in expected working order again. Sequences are running and I can access configuration menus. I try once again: set clock to external, (but this time keeping reset on default behaviour) and save. turn off power -> turn on power -> metropolis displayed “hello”, no running behaviour, no access to configuration menus.

Tonight I’ll try flashing it again, if it’s even possible (since I’m already on 1.35).

Kinda frustrating. Please let me know if I’m missing something, or if there is something I can do to help with troubleshooting. There’s still no “factory reset” shortcut on boot, hey? Thanks all.

It fixes two bugs:

Module would fail to start properly if a preset was saved with external clock mode (thanks @codydjango)
First stage pulse count was always 1 after reset (thanks Icaro Ferre!)

Really would appreciate an update/fix on DI/DO implementation, allowing a faster speed to the clock output than to the internal sequencer.
Not sure if this earlier request was essentially ignored, or potentially still in the cards…

Bug or feature request - not sure… the current implementation of DI and DO clock division.
Right now, there is a direct dependancy between DI and DO - a higher DI division always resulting in the CLK output slowing as well. Essentially, DI clock rate is passed to DO for further division to CLK output. For me, it would be much more intuitive to have DI and DO working independently (‘in parallel’) to the master clock rate, so that changes to DI leave the CLK output rate unaffected and controlled by DO only.
What I am trying to accomplish, is having a higher CLK out rate (controlled via DO) than the internal sequencer clock rate (controlled via DI). Example: (external) master clock rate set at 160 BPM. Setting DI_4 and DO_2 then results in internal sequencer rate moving at 40 BPM, external CLK output triggering at 80 BPM.
Actually, the manual seems to imply that it works this way, but perhaps that’s just me misreading it?

Feature request - on top of all this! - would be that DI and DO supporting basic multiplication of the BPM master rate instead of only dividing. So: DIx2 in addition to DI_2, etc.
This would be completely awesome, removing the need for an external clock multiplier (or even an external clock generator at all).

I may still do this, but the priority right now is fixing any outstanding bugs. The DI/DO behaviour has always worked the way it is now, and changing it would risk breaking some other timing related things so I’m hesitant to tweak it until everything else is settled.

Hi, I just updated fto 1.36 but I canot get the ratcheting to work? I couldnt see any other reports of this so I assume its somethign I’m doing. I tried copying the 1.30 video : holding a stage button and turning the encoder but it just adjusts whatever value the encoder ws arasdy on. I dont see the screen in the demo video? Please help?

edit : its working now. I dont know why but lets agree user error.
