Dixie II+ Sync Input Inoperable

Bought an excellent condition, secondhand Dixie II+ the other day, except that not only is its sync input inoperable (Dixie is not reset/affected by an external oscillator source plugged into its sync input), it actually mutes the output of the external oscillator plugged into its sync input.

Anybody have any insight on this one?
