1U modules wishlist

Yup! That’s what I did… Still… I wish it had the labels.

You might be able to use the CVx for the MIDI 1u.

I bought the MIDI 1U and the CVx when each of them first came out… brilliant system.
I’m considering pulling the buffered mult out (pictured above) and adding another CVx, so I can have the one primary comprehensive voice (pitch, mod, velocity, CC, gate, trigger) on MIDI 1U and expand from 8 to 16 MIDI-CV signals coming from Ableton. I highly prefer what Intellijel has done to what I had before - ExpertSleepers FH-2. They are pretty much on par for functionality - but the MIDI 1U takes up none of the valuable 3U real estate, and the Intellijel configuration app is so much cleaner and easier to use.
One really cool way to set up CVx, is as 8 triggers, and then use Ableton’s Drum Rack to trigger them. It’s like having a Steppy… and with Push2, you basically have an amazing 8-channel drum sequencer in 14HP of Euro and the amazing step sequencer interface on Push2.

Yup. Also cool to use CVx a running clock divider/ multiplier, which I have mine defaulted to, when not doing poly patches.

Not sure if this is doable but I would love to be able to tap into my Intellijel case’s power to feed power to a 4ms pod. I know it would have an impact on the overall case power draw, but I envision it more as a way to easily expand your HP for a one-off module that you don’t want to put in the big case…like audio effects and or mixing. Thinkin like something that is big but maybe doesn’t draw a ton of juice. Would that be relatively small in a 1u tile? Just a barrel out that connects to the bus?

4ms Pods have a power-through connector, and I believe they use the same barrel size as the DC input on Intellijel cases. All you should need is a Pod bridging cable and a beefy enough power brick.

I say this without looking at the exact specifications, so I advise confirming before plugging things in blindly.

LOL I feel like an idiot for not considering this workaround! I’ll have to check and compare the power specs but thank you!

Not a problem, I’m happy to help, and I hope it works out for you.

1U Gx! It should be able to fit the form factor of the cvx pretty easily. Perhaps this could be as simple as an alternate firmware for the cvx

Edit: looks like the cvx already has lights in it, don’t know what I was saying there

I was just looking at the Switched Mult 1U, which I never really saw a need for in my system… BUT - it got me thinking of a variation that would…
A 5 into 2 signal router/adder.
Replace the last switch on the right with a jack. Now you have two outputs - the top jack is X. The bottom jack is Y.
Put buffers in the first 5 jacks - this way you could mix two or more signals.
This would allow you to route/mix 5 incoming signals to either X or Y, useful for these function examples…

  • add two CVs together into X, and two other CVs and a gate into Y
  • switch five different VCO outputs into two different filters on X or Y

  • Quantizer (scales wud be great)
  • A CV to midi module that could integrate with the midi to CV 1u modules and case (how does this not exist yet!? :D)

There has been much discussion on the concept of a Scales in 1u. It’s not currently possible in the same way that Steppy 1U is, just because the size doesn’t quite fit, and someone would have to completely redesign the circuit for it to even be a possibility

It won’t be buffered but you can attach an X/Y 1U module on the back of the modules to get the pair of jacks you are looking for.

A 1u mixup wud be cool!
It’d be really cool if there were jumpers on the back to turn the stereo inputs into dual mono (sharing a single volume knob)
This would give you the option of up to 6mono tracks which would be cool

I’m drooling.

A 2HP version of USB Power 1U with USB-C would be awesome to power external controllers etc.

One thing to keep in mind is that usb-c usually tries to deliver more power, so that could either eat up lots of power on the +5v rail, or introduce noise and cause other modules to go all wacky

An ADSR or dual AD/AR envelope generator, CV-able or with EOR/EOC outputs - preferably in 12hp or less

Another thing I would love is a passive switch, a la the Doepfer A-182-2. A single switch in 6HP if you want things spaced out, or 4HP if you don’t mind close quarters.

The two new 1U mods look excellent! Very excited to get a few 1U Att mods in the mix. Hope everyone has had a great summer!
